While the novel follows hundreds of characters, the focus is mainly on the three power blocs that emerged from the remnants of the Han dynasty, and would eventually form the three states of Cao Wei, Shu Han, and Eastern Wu. The story – part historical and part fictional – romanticises and dramatises the lives of feudal lords and their retainers, who tried to replace the dwindling Han dynasty or restore it. You are likely going to have more success by ferocity than careful planning, on average. If you have a substantial lead of war (Zhang Fei, Guan Yu, Lu Bu, etc.) you are going to gain more from a partial success than your opponent. The AI never learns, so it usually uses 2-3 attacks or unbalances. With a little forethought, you can control the momentum of the debate and force them to take decision that you can beat.įinally, a good strategy, maybe the best strategy, in duels, if you have 20-40 points leading (about 120-125 War) is just to use attack five times. Wheras duels are all of nothing (all of your decisions occur before the duel begins) debates are slower. A high int officer will seek to undermine the flow of the debate, chosing instead techniques that beat those that would beat the most powerful topics. A weak debater will lead, often, with assert and use the most powerful topics. So if you know what the enemy is going to do, you can intuit what they might do with much greater accuracy.ĭebates are similar. Defence needs to be followed by over power, which means that over powered usually occurs on the 3rd or 5th slot, wheras the AI seems to use defence on the 2nd and 4th slots in particular. A high duelist will likely throw unbalance and defence/overpower in there. A low war duelist will likely choose to do five attacks in a row. However, there are things you can remember.ĪI strategy changes based on the skill of the duelist or debator. There is no surefire way to beat a superior opponent. There is just a lot in the system that the game never tells you about. I think the PUK duels are actually pretty logical. ![]()
